The China-South Africa COVID-19 Pandemic Prevention and Control Online Communication and Exchange Conference was one of the Serial Activity Under Silk Road NGO Cooperation Network that held under the guidance of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of South Africa and jointly held by the Amity Foundation, Peace Land Foundation, South Africa National Civic Organization(SANCO), Peking Union Medical College Training Center and China House on 10 May,2020.
As a social enterprise under the administration of the Amity Foundation, Nanjing Amity Printing not only arranged its Africa Service Center staff to join the conference the first time, but also arranged marketing teams and partners to successfully invite around 100 participators, including customers from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and other countries and overseas students with a nationality of Ethiopia, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of South Africa, UNICEF Representative to China, African National Congress Women's League(AMCWL), SANCO, community prevention and control unions against the COVID-19, Africa Volunteer Institutes, South Africa Shark Conservation Center, Somalia Women Development Center, South Africa China Economic and Trade Association, Doctors of South Africa and other governmental departments, non-governmental organizations, medical institutes, representatives of overseas students. The health control experience about the prevention and control of COVID-19, particularly for maternal and infant group, was shared on the conference.
The president Damuken of the South Africa National Civic Organization, one of the most influential non-governmental organizations in the South Africa, addressed that he cherished this online exchange chance, because the COVID-19 is an unprecedented challenge of the human, and China and South Africa are more unified and supported each other than other time during fighting against it. As the epidemic is spread in Africa, China is on duty and brave to fight against it, providing many materials for prevention and control for the epidemic, and actively supports African countries to fight against the epidemic, and shares valuable experience about control over the epidemic, which plays an important role in South Africa fighting against the epidemic. Non-governmental organizations, participating in the prevention and control of the epidemic, shall strength their exchanges and interaction; actively communicate experiences and feelings, to make contribution to better responding to the large-scale infectious disease.
President Matlakala of SANCO, one of the most influential non-governmental organizations in the South Africa, addressed that he cherished this online exchange chance, because COVID-19 is an unprecedented challenge for the human kind. In the fight against the epidemic, China and Africa need to unite and support each other more than ever. With the spread of the epidemic in Africa, China actively stood up, provided a number of anti-epidemic material assistance, actively supported the anti-epidemic efforts of African countries, and provided a lot of valuable experience in controlling the epidemic, which plays an important role in the fight against the epidemic in South Africa.
NGOs involved in epidemic prevention and control of the two countries should strengthen exchanges, interactions and active dialogues, share experience in order to make greater contributions to better response to large-scale infectious diseases.
